Facilitator: Dr Chantelle Clohessy completed her BSc (Mathematical Statistics and Physics), BSc Hons (Mathematical Statistics), MSc (Mathematical Statistics) and PhD (Mathematical Statistics) at Nelson Mandela University. Her research focus is in renewable applications and statistical techniques that are used to assess these applications. She is currently a senior lecturer in the Department of Statistics at Nelson Mandela University, where she has been lecturing for 10 years.
Target Group: Postgraduate students
Background: The main aim of this workshop is to get participants comfortable working with R. The workshop is aimed at students who want to learn R and how to perform basic descriptive statistics using this software. The course will start with learning the basics in base R and R Commander. Handling of raw data and the assessment of this data will also be discussed and performed using R. The session will also include performing basic descriptive statistics within this package, creating graphical illustrations and numerical statistics.
